Create a beautifully layered Christmas tree card using the timeless art of iris folding. Iris folding is a paper-crafting technique that uses folded strips of paper to create a layered spiral design resembling the iris of an eye or camera lens. The technique originated in the Netherlands and creates an intricate look that is surprisingly simple to achieve. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to position folded paper strips behind a Christmas tree pattern cut from cardstock. As each strip is overlapped and secured to the back, a beautiful spiral design will begin to appear on the front, with no tape or unfinished edges showing. Your finished 5-by-7-inch greeting card can be mailed to someone special, displayed as part of your holiday décor, or framed as a handmade keepsake. Once you learn the technique, you’ll be able to use it with many other templates and patterns.
